In ARC Raiders, the Caravan system gives experienced players a useful way to turn spare resources into long-term progression. For players who have accumulated plenty of ARC Raiders BluePrints, materials, mechanical parts, and Coins, an Expedition can be more than a simple reset. It is a chance to trade short-term progression for permanent account benefits that can make future Raiders easier to develop.
The decision becomes more interesting when you already have a large collection of ARC Raiders BluePrints and other valuable resources sitting in storage. The Caravan asks you to give up your current Raider, but the rewards can improve your account for future runs. With the Fifth Expedition approaching, understanding how Caravan value works can help you decide what is actually worth sacrificing.
Understanding the Caravan Process
The Caravan becomes available after your Raider reaches Level 20 and unlocks the Expedition Project. From there, construction is divided into several stages, with each stage asking for different resources. Junk, ARC parts, mechanical items, and other materials can all become useful contributions.
It is worth planning ahead instead of simply emptying your stash. Some materials may still be needed for Workshop projects, equipment crafting, or regular raids. If you spend everything on the Caravan too early, the period before departure can become unnecessarily difficult.
The final construction stage focuses on loading the Caravan. You need to provide the required provisions, materials, and gear before the project is ready to leave the Rust Belt.
There is also an important step that can easily be missed. Finishing the Caravan does not automatically register your Raider for departure. When the correct departure window opens, you must manually sign up. Players who complete the preparation but forget to register can miss the opportunity.
Why Your Stash Has Value
The Caravan system has historically connected stash value with Expedition rewards. Earlier versions used a simple Coin-based calculation, where every 1 million Coins of value could provide one additional Skill Point, up to five points from 5 million Coins.
The system has since been adjusted, with some benefits being connected to Damage Challenges during the departure period. However, the basic concept remains similar. Resources that are no longer important to your immediate progression can contribute toward a stronger future account.
This makes surplus materials particularly useful. If your stash contains large quantities of resources that you rarely use, converting some of that value into Caravan progress may be more sensible than letting everything sit unused.
At the same time, players should avoid treating every item as disposable. Keep the materials you need for current upgrades and crafting. The best Caravan strategy is usually to sacrifice genuine surplus rather than resources that still have an immediate purpose.
What You Give Up
The biggest cost of completing an Expedition is your current Raider.
Once the Caravan departs, that character is permanently retired. Your current level and Skill Tree progress disappear, along with your inventory, Coins, and Blueprints. Base stash upgrades and Workbench levels are also reset.
This can make the Caravan feel expensive, especially if you have spent many hours developing a character. For that reason, the system works better as a deliberate long-term choice than as something you should complete immediately after reaching Level 20.
Think about what you still want to accomplish with the current Raider. If you have important Workshop projects unfinished or valuable equipment you still want to use, there may be little reason to rush toward departure.
The Rewards Last Longer
The main attraction is what your next Raider receives.
Each successful Expedition provides 12 permanent stash slots, with five completed Expeditions potentially giving a total of 60 additional slots. More storage may sound like a small reward, but it becomes increasingly useful for regular players who collect materials, weapons, and other resources during every raid.
Some account progression also remains available after the reset. Previously unlocked maps and fast-track Workshop stations can help a new Level 1 Raider get moving more quickly.
Consecutive successful departures can also build account-wide bonuses. The listed maximums include a 15% XP increase, an 18% Scrappy materials bonus, and a 30% increase in weapon repair value.
These rewards are different from ordinary loot because they continue helping future characters. The more often you participate successfully, the more valuable the long-term benefits become.
The Fifth Expedition Matters
There is an additional reason to evaluate your Caravan now. Embark Studios has announced that the Expedition system will be paused after the Fifth Expedition, scheduled for September 8 through September 29, 2026.
The existing system is being prepared for a larger live-service overhaul later in 2026 or early 2027. Players who have partially completed a Caravan therefore have another option to consider instead of assuming their investment will disappear.
Partially completed Caravans are planned to be converted into Ermal Vouchers based on their existing value. These vouchers can be exchanged for ARC Parts and firearms or sold for Coins. That means unfinished progress can still retain practical value during the transition.
Making the Right Caravan Decision
For players with plenty of surplus resources, cheap ARC Raiders Items can provide another way to prepare for future progression without treating every valuable item in the current stash as something that must be sacrificed. The important part is balancing immediate needs with the permanent advantages an Expedition can provide.
